Wareham schools strengthen harassment policy, update recognition language
School Committee · Meeting of March 11, 2026
WAREHAM — The Wareham School Committee Policy Review Sub-Committee unanimously approved updated anti-harassment and retaliation language incorporating recommendations to expand protections against off-campus and school-activity harassment and retaliation. The sub-committee also unanimously voted to change recognition-ceremony language, replacing "certificate" with "award" in annual employee recognition materials. Superintendent Matthew D'Andrea noted challenges in verifying years of service across multiple positions and unions, while Recording Secretary Jamie Wiksten highlighted the significant hours of preparation required for the ceremony outside regular work.
The sub-committee also unanimously approved the Expense Reimbursement policy without changes. All three items advance to the full School Committee.
