Committee advances goals, warrant on 5-0 votes
School Committee · Meeting of September 3, 2026
Wareham School Committee reviews new policy on law enforcement access to students, delays adoption vote to September 17. Superintendent Dr. Amy Hartley-Matteson said "the last thing I want this to be is to take on any political overtones" while outlining procedures for judicial versus non-judicial warrants.
The committee voted 5-0 to approve her fiscal 2027 goals and 5-0 to place an $80,827 McKinney-Vento homeless-transportation reimbursement on the fall Town Meeting warrant, offsetting the budget by $150,000. Members also approved student activity account balances 5-0 and payroll/bill warrants 4-0-1, with Roger Bonin abstaining. Director of Finance Kristin Flynn said reimbursement rates for homeless transportation have ranged from 34 percent to 100 percent since 2013.
Apryl Rossi was appointed MASC conference delegate, with Kevin Brogioli as alternate.
