Wareham School Committee reorganizes, approves senior class trip 4-1
School Committee · Meeting of May 7, 2026
Wareham School Committee reelects Geoffrey Swett as chair, narrowly approves $1,800 senior trip. The committee voted 4-0-1 to keep Swett as chair, with Kevin Brogioli and Joyce Bacchiocchi reelected vice chair and secretary, each abstaining from their own nomination. Members approved the Class of 2027 senior trip to Universal Orlando 4-1, with one member warning "I just wouldn't want to see kids ever pay in and then have to pay a fee." Director of Student Services Kristen Flynn won 5-0 approval to transfer unspent budget funds to prepay next year's special education collaborative tuition, calling it "a tool that a lot of school districts use," with the district's special ed stabilization fund holding just under $100,000.
The committee also approved new $700,000 baseball field lighting, $600,000 of it from Community Preservation Act funds, ahead of a May 18 first night game.
