Conservation Commission continues golf course erosion case to June 17
Conservation · Meeting of June 3, 2026
Wareham Conservation Commission weighs jetty move, presses golf course on bog damage. The board signaled it would consider an engineering plan to relocate a Pinehurst Beach jetty currently encroaching on a neighbor's land after acting association president Kimberly Scheib reported the abutter refused an easement or sale. Separately, engineer Bob Rigo of River Hawk Environmental told the board golf course construction sent an estimated 27 to 40 cubic yards of sand onto a neighboring, inactive cranberry bog; the case was continued to June 17 because the bog's owner has not consented to restoration work.
Conservation Agent Christine warned "you're going to get accumulation on that one side of the jetty and then the other side is going to start to erode" if a sand-bypass feature isn't built in. The commission also approved, 5-0-0 in one case, a shed replacement, two septic system upgrades and a movable dock.
