Wareham Panel Continues Onset Erosion Plan Over Signature Gap

Wareham Conservation Commission stalls Onset erosion fix over a church land-ownership snag. Applicant Stephen King's plan to clear vegetation and install stone and riprap behind 12 Rippler Road was continued to August 19 after commissioners found the notice of intent lacked a signature from the property's true owner, a Missouri-based religious organization whose presiding bishop, Ron Harmon, has not yet signed off. Commissioner Paula Jean O'Neill pressed King on the design, saying, "I just always personally lean towards seeing something alive there rather than something sterile, you know, stone." Commissioner Jessica Parr asked simply, "Who's Ron Harmon?" In a separate hearing, the board unanimously approved a standard order of conditions for a septic upgrade at 63 Edgewater Drive.

Commissioners also heard the Buzzards Bay Coalition is under contract for a $4.2 million, 350-acre purchase near Maple Springs and has requested a $1 million Community Preservation Act grant toward it.
