Conservation Board Denies Stone Permit, Advances Bike Path Review
Conservation · Meeting of June 17, 2026
Wareham Conservation Commission previews 1.8-mile regional bike path, denies Burgess Point Road stone permit. Engineer Brian Wallace of JC Engineering outlined a 10-foot shared-use path along Narrows Road and Minot Avenue, funded through the state's 2030 Transportation Improvement Program, with construction unlikely before 2028; the board continued the hearing to August 19. South Coast Bikeway Alliance advocate Sherry Quirk called it "a good idea" for bicyclists, walkers and schoolkids.
Separately, the commission voted unanimously to deny a certificate of compliance for 72B Burgess Point Road after owner Ryan Vlacco acknowledged placing crushed stone on a dirt road in a flood zone; he must now file a notice of intent to remove it. The board also continued seven other hearings and approved deck and seawall repairs at three residential properties.
