Commission continues Safe Harbor marina hearing to June 3

Wareham conservation board delays Safe Harbor marina expansion after neighbors allege illegal dumping. The Conservation Commission continued a hearing on Safe Harbor Onset Bay Marina's proposed 47,889-square-foot building to June 3, after residents packed the meeting to oppose it. General Manager Jackie Mello and attorney Steve Gard presented a $170,000 stormwater bond and disputed the need for state MEPA review, which Conservation Agent Christine said may be required.
Resident Tim Bigelow cited a March 4 letter asking town boards to conduct concurrent review; Frank Uccioli alleged an unreported 88-gallon fuel spill and showed video he said depicted marina discharge into Onset Bay. "We haven't felt that they have been good neighbors," Bigelow said. The board also voted 4-2 to continue a footprint dispute over a rebuild at 17 Atlantic Avenue to April 1 and approved a certificate of compliance for 19 Station Street.
