Wareham Schools Return as Town Warns Drivers to Slow Down

WAREHAM — Wareham Public Schools staff reported for Opening Day this week as students prepared to return for the 2026-27 year, prompting a town reminder to drivers to slow down in school zones.

TOWN HALL The Town of Wareham posted a driver-safety notice this week tied to the new school year, urging motorists to slow down as buses and students return to town roads. Several town and district boards have business on the calendar for Thursday, Aug. 27, including the Redevelopment Authority, the Board of Sewer Commissioners, the Office of the Prudential Committee and the Wareham Fire District Prudential Committee.

SCHOOLS Wareham Public Schools marked Opening Day FY26/27 this week as staff reported back ahead of students' return to the district's schools. The district's FY26/27 school and district handbooks and the 2025-2026 school time schedules remain posted on the district website for families preparing for the year ahead.

COMMUNITY & ARTS The town has scheduled a "Spring into Summer" kayaking outing at Riverside Beach for Saturday, Aug. 29, giving residents a chance to get on the water as the summer winds down.

COMING UP The Riverside Beach kayaking trip is set for Saturday, Aug. 29. On Thursday, Aug. 27, five town and regional bodies meet: the Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School's MSBA School Building Committee, the Redevelopment Authority, the Office of the Prudential Committee, the Wareham Fire District Prudential Committee and the Board of Sewer Commissioners.
