Wareham Finance Committee approves February minutes, vets Spring Town Meeting warrant. The committee heard presentations on 11 articles including a $300,000 Community Preservation request for Cranberry Manor Phase II affordable housing for seniors and a $700,000 CP allocation to Buzzards Bay Coalition for 98-acre land conservation at Beaver Dam Creek. Committee member Dominic Cammarano objected to the for-profit Cranberry Manor project, but Select Board Chair Judith Whiteside said the project would yield 41 senior housing units and that CP funds were necessary to attract state and federal financing.
The committee also reviewed a proposal to dissolve the inactive Minot Forest Committee and a citizen petition for a single-use plastic bag reduction ordinance.
