Wareham Finance Committee clears warrant errors before town meeting
Finance Committee · Meeting of April 27, 2026
Wareham Finance Committee irons out warrant errors and warns of a tougher budget ahead. Chair Joseph R. Smith Jr. and members unanimously approved minutes from four meetings and flagged a duplicated Article 15 and an outdated moderator's pay figure, corrected from $125 to $150, in the panel's own printed report ahead of Annual Town Meeting.
Clerk Alan H. Slavin, arriving late after being out sick, told colleagues "this is my 11th budget that I've worked on, two different towns, and it's been a tough one," warning that next year's budget could bring a property tax override split across three separate ballot questions. Smith said the warrant had been reformatted repeatedly in the days before the meeting by a town official referred to only as Derek.
The committee adjourned by unanimous voice vote at 6:37 p.m.
