WAREHAM — Finance Committee hears school budgets as town meeting nears without formal votes. Superintendent Matt D'Andrea presented a $38.2 million FY27 school budget, a $2.155 million increase over FY26, with nearly $6 million dedicated to out-of-district special education placements and transportation. Upper Cape Superintendent Roger Forget's foundation budget came in at $21.4 million (6.02 percent increase), drawing $4.8 million in Chapter 70 state aid.
Town Administrator Derek Sullivan warned that new state aid creates a negative adjustment and that local receipts gains are one-time only. The Committee deferred all formal votes on town meeting articles to its March 30 meeting.
