Board approves wastewater plant land lease for town meeting

Sewer Commissioner · Meeting of September 10, 2026

WAREHAM — Sewer commissioners unanimously approve wastewater plant land-lease proposal for the 2026 fall town meeting. The Board voted 4-0 to advance an article authorizing the Chief Procurement Officer to lease approximately seven acres of treatment plant grounds at 6 Tony's Lane for up to 30 years. The lease would support development of a solids-handling facility using pyrolysis technology to process dried sludge into a marketable product, providing a long-term regional disposal solution.

According to WPCF Director Scott Kraihanzel, the facility would generate revenue credited to the Pollution Control Enterprise Fund.
