WAREHAM — The Finance Committee voted to recommend 14 Fall 2026 Town Meeting Warrant articles, with three referred without endorsement and one tabled. Finance Committee Chair Joseph R. Smith Jr. opposed tabling Article 10, which would authorize the Wareham Pollution Control Facility to lease town property for a sludge-conversion facility.

According to WPCF Director Scott Kraihanzel, the facility would use pyrolysis to convert wastewater sludge into a marketable product called "Char," eliminating the town's $600,000 annual disposal cost and generating revenue. The Sewer Commission had unanimously backed the article. Committee members expressed concerns about the warrant article language failing to convey the full scope of the proposal.
